Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Caribbean Counsel collects through this website and its contact channels, why, who processes it on our behalf, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It is written for the people who actually contact us: clients and prospective clients living in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Dominican Republic.
Who is responsible
Caribbean Counsel, Punta Cana, La Altagracia, Dominican Republic. Contact for anything in this policy: info@caribbeancounseldr.com.
What we collect, and when
- When you send us your situation (website form, email, WhatsApp, chat): your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the situation you select, what you write, and any document you attach (contracts, reservations, incident reports, identification, death certificates). These documents may contain data about other people; please share only what is needed.
- When you book a call: name, email, time zone and the time you choose, through our scheduling provider.
- When you pay: the payment is processed by our payment provider; we receive confirmation and the last digits of the card, never the full card number.
- When you browse: technical data (pages visited, device, approximate location from your IP, how you interact with the page) collected through analytics and session-replay tools, as described below.
- When you download the guide or subscribe: name and email.
Why we use it
To read your situation and reply; to prepare a proposal and, if you accept it, to represent you; to schedule calls and process payments; to comply with our legal and professional obligations, including identification of clients under Dominican anti-money-laundering rules (Law 155-17); to send you the guide or information you asked for; and to understand how the website is used so we can improve it. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.
Who processes it for us
We use service providers that store or process data on our behalf: a customer relationship system for contacts, proposals and email (HubSpot); website hosting and form processing (Netlify); web analytics (Google Analytics 4) and session analytics (Microsoft Clarity); scheduling (HubSpot Meetings); payments (Stripe); messaging (WhatsApp); and email and document storage providers. Some of these providers are located outside the Dominican Republic, including in the United States and the European Union. We choose providers that commit to protecting personal data and we share only what each one needs.
Attorney-client confidentiality
What you tell us in the course of an engagement is covered by professional secrecy under Dominican law. This policy governs the data we process through the website and its tools; it does not limit that confidentiality.
How long we keep it
If you contact us and no engagement follows, we keep your enquiry and documents for up to 24 months, then delete them. If you become a client, we keep your file for as long as our legal and professional obligations require after the matter closes, and then delete or return it. Analytics data is kept for the period set in the relevant tool.
Your rights
You may ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, or to send it to you in a usable format. Write to info@caribbeancounseldr.com and we will answer within one month. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; if you are in Canada, to the Privacy Commissioner. Dominican residents are protected by Law 172-13 on personal data.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses cookies and similar tools for the analytics and session-replay services above and for the chat and scheduling widgets to work. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may then not work. We do not use advertising cookies.
Security
We protect data with access controls, encrypted connections and providers that meet recognized security standards. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you.
Children
This website is not directed at people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
